Afterschool Enrichment Program (AEP)
Tap In Leadership Academy’s Afterschool Enrichment Program (AEP) started in the spring of 2011. Enroll your scholar today for our AEP, Monday through Friday from 2:00 pm. to 6:00 pm.
Our Afterschool Enrichment Program serves Scholars from Kindergarten through High School. Our AEP features an academic hour with trained Team Members and dedicated volunteers from the University of Illinois, Eastern Illinois University, and Parkland College to assist with homework help and test preparation, and to equip Scholars with an abundance of study tips. Scholars then transition into a variety of enrichment activities based on their interests to fuel educational achievement, leadership development, and cultural advancement. Curriculum is derived from Tap In’s Culturally-Integrated Literacy Curriculum (CILC), 4-H curriculum, and innovative S.T.E.A.M. resources. Some examples include 4-H Clubs, Lego robotics, dance, cooking, intramural sports teams, African drumming, web design, and digital photography!
Each day starts off with a snack and Community Circle, followed by Academic Hour. This gives our scholars an opportunity to finish their homework with the assistance of our trained staff and tutors, meet with teachers, and create unique plans to ensure each of our scholars is on the right track. After Academic Hour, Tap In offers various enrichments based on student interest. Some past enrichments have included African drumming, jewelry making, spoken word, dance, and intramural sports!
“At Tap In my kids are happier, meet new people, and always have something engaging to do.”Toni A., Parent
